The Southwest Michigan First Chamber is proud to celebrate those who are making a significant impact in the Greater Kalamazoo region. These are the individuals and organizations who are passionate about improving the quality of life in our communities and driving economic growth so that everyone has an opportunity to thrive. We are proud to meaningfully acknowledge and celebrate those organizations that are making our area the absolute best place to live, work, play, and do business.

Award Categories

This year, there are nine exciting award categories:

  • Woman-owned Business of the Year – Sponsored by The Barton Group
  • Entrepreneur of the Year – Sponsored by Can-Do Kalamazoo
  • Chamber Small Business of the Year – Sponsored by Midwest Communications

  • Chamber Mid/Large Business of the Year – Sponsored by Midwest Communications
  • Alumnus/a of the Year – Sponsored by WMU Foundation
  • Veteran-owned Business of the Year
  • LGBTQIA+ Business of the Year
How Voting Works

Vote for who you feel is making the biggest impact in our area. Voting ends on Saturday, September 21. The top three nominees in each category will become the finalists.*

Chamber members will then vote for the winner and the one with the most votes in each category will win the award.

*Nominations will be reviewed for accuracy by a diverse panel of community judges. The top three nominees in each category will be selected as finalists. Current and active Chamber members will make the final awardee selections from the list of finalists. The awardees for Chamber’s Choice will be recognized at their location with a physical award, on the Southwest Michigan First website, and on social media. Awardees will also receive a professionally produced video sharing their story and community impact. Neither sponsorship of the Chamber’s Choice Awards nor any actual or perceived relationship with Southwest Michigan First are factors in the selection criteria.
